uARM - Liquid Handling Application (OpenLH) - Need Help

Hey team,

I am building an open source liquid handling robot as a project (https://www.instructables.com/OpenLH/). The system is adapted from the 3D printing module for the uARM, see the “Control Software” page of this publication. I need the 30 pin base extension so I can attach a 17 step motor to the system so I can get it started. See below picture. Do you know where I can purchase this adapter, or how I can set up a 17 step motor with the system?

Thank you very much!!
Nate

Hi Nate,

I saw your message on Intercom, the arm you have is our latest version, which is not supported to control the external stepper motor.

Users can check it by SN attached on the bottom of uarm, if the SN is UP1302+ (e.g. UP1303xxxx…), then the external stepper is not supported.

Best regards,
Minna

Thank you Minna, for this comment and you’re email!

Would you be able to provide me the pin layout for the 30p extension part that is presented on the back of the uARM? For example, what pin is the GND, the 5V, and the other digital ports for the Arduino?

For reference, I attached a picture for the Arduino Mega 2560 Pinout, how does that pinout correspond to the pins on the extension port?

Thank you!
Nate

Hi Nate,

Please download the uarm schematic diagram in the below link and refer to it.
We recommend you use a multimeter to measure it when using, I have to mention if you open the arm and wire to it, the arm will not covered by the warranty.

That is great, thank you Minna!
